The GSC Fall Elections are open
Hi everyone. Nominations for the GSC Fall Elections 2026 opened yesterday, and
declaring your intent to run closes on Sunday, September 20. There are thirteen
positions on the ballot and we are excited for you to consider joining our Graduate Student Council to
make the most of our year together.
If you have a desire to shape how our graduate school runs, this is your chance to step
up. Academics, events, communications, alumni relations, inclusion — each of those has
a position to make a difference together.
And if running is not for you this term, come to the Student Involvement Fair tonight
instead. Over thirty clubs will be in one room from 4:00, and every club is looking for you to join.
Full details below, along with everything else on this week's calendar.
Have a wonderful week and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to reply to this email to reach our
team directly.
— Akshay Karumuri MBA'27, GSC Chief of Operations

Friday, September 18 · A club event
|
|
Grad Student LATAM Welcome Back Party
9:00 PM · Empire, Seaport · Open to all graduate students
The Latin American Club is throwing the welcome back party for graduate students, and it is the
perfect chance to kick off the semester with all the energy. Everyone is welcome, not
only LatAm students — this one reliably draws a big, mixed crowd.
Doors at 9:00 PM and the party runs late. Register on Engage so the club can plan numbers.
|
|
|
Saturday, September 19 · A GSC event
|
|
GSC Social Series: Notch Brewery Mixer
5:00 to 9:00 PM · Notch Brewery · Open to all graduate students and alumni
This is the first event in our new GSC Social Series, which will run through the
year. The idea is simple and we are committing to it: a regular, low-key invitation to hang out
and mingle with other graduate students, off campus.
Four hours is an open window, so come at five, come at eight, come for forty minutes between
other plans. Drop by whenever you want!
Please register on Engage so we can gauge interest for our future social series events.

Nominations close Sunday, September 20

GSC Fall Elections 2026
Thirteen seats · Nominations open now · Results announced October 1
Eight program seats. Only students in that program may run, and only students in
that program vote: One-Year MBA, First-Year Two-Year MBA, Blended Miami MBA, Part-Time MBA /
MSAEL / CAM, MSBA, MSF, MSEL, and DBA.
Five open seats. Any graduate student may run and the whole graduate body votes:
VP of Inclusive Excellence, Co-VP of GSC Events, VP of Graduate Student Alumni Relations, VP of
Communications, and VP of Technology.
|
What a nomination needs. A written statement of at least 300 words, and a
video statement of no more than one minute hosted on Vimeo, with the link on the form. The
video is not strictly required, but we recommend it to everyone — it is what lets
voters get a read on you.
The dates. Nominations close Sunday, September 20. Campaigning runs September 21 to
27 and only then — no campaigning before that window. Voting opens September 28 and
closes at 12 PM on September 30. Results are announced October 1.
|
Campaigning is limited to posters, WhatsApp messages, and talking to people. No monetary gifts and
no incentivized campaigning of any kind. The full org chart and the responsibilities attached to
each seat are on Engage.

08 · One more thing
A little Babson trivia. Since we are running an election this week: our founder
once stood in one himself. What office did Roger Babson run for?
President of the United States. He was the Prohibition Party's nominee in 1940, finished
fourth, and collected somewhere around 58,000 votes nationwide — which is roughly fifty-eight
thousand more than most people manage. He lost, went back to Wellesley, and kept building the
place. A useful precedent for anyone weighing whether to put their name forward by Sunday.
