Wednesday, September 9

Babson Night at Fenway Park

Reception 5:45 PM · First pitch 6:45 PM · Fenway Park, 4 Jersey Street

This is the eighth Babson Night at Fenway, and it has become one of the biggest traditions of the fall. Alumni, students, parents, and friends of the College all come together to watch the Red Sox take on the LA Angels, and this year more than 700 members of our Babson community will be in the park.

Babson's ticket allotment has sold out, including our graduate block. The Red Sox are still holding a limited number of seats through their College Night promotion, and tickets bought through that link count the same as ours: you are welcome at our informal pre-game reception on the Sam Adams Roof Deck from 5:45 to 6:45, and you receive the evening's giveaway, a limited-edition Red Sox cap in Babson colors.

Gates open at 5:15. Come straight to the Sam Adams roof deck and find us — we will have a good crowd of grad students there well before first pitch.

Thursday, September 10

Babson Founder's Day

11:00 AM to 10:00 PM · Wellesley campus · Free, and lunch is covered for you

Babson has marked this day every fall since 1947, in honor of Roger Babson, who founded the College. It is the one day of the year when the whole community — graduate students, undergraduates, faculty, staff, and alumni — ends up in the same few places, and it is a fun-filled day to meet people outside your program.

11:00 AM to 2:00 PM · Apple-themed lunch, Trim Dining Hall. Covered by the Founder's Day Planning Committee for graduate students and anyone not on a meal plan. There is no code and no list, so simply come by.

4:15 to 6:00 PM · Founder's Fest, Park Manor Quad. Carnival games, giveaways, apple treats, a photo magnet booth, and an obstacle course. Raffle tickets need to be submitted by 5:15 to be counted.

8:00 to 10:00 PM · Beaver Bowl Trivia, Schlesinger Innovation Center 118. Babson trivia against undergraduate and alumni teams, with prizes and snacks. We would love to see a few graduate teams in this one.

Thursday, September 10 · A GSC event

GSC Wellness: Discovering True Purpose

6:00 to 8:00 PM · Hamilton Exhibit Room, Blank Center · Free, dinner included

This is the opening event of our Wellness Initiative for the year, and we scheduled it for week one deliberately. It is two hours on purpose, on stress, and on what it costs to spend two years trying to prove that you are enough — a timely conversation that helps align you for the start of the semester.

Sameer Kamboj, founder of Unmukt and SKC World, has spent two decades mentoring more than 10,000 entrepreneurs, and he is bringing three people who have lived these questions while building real companies: Gaurav Jalan of mPokket, Mrinal Sinha of Vitraya Technologies, and Rajani Jalan, mPokket's Chief Mentor and CHRO.

The evening runs as a guided meditation, then a founder panel, then open questions, and we finish with dinner together. You will leave with a short grounding practice you can actually use when the semester gets chaotic. Open to every Babson student, and to faculty and staff as well.

08 · One more thing

A little Babson trivia. Thursday's lunch is apple-themed, and there are apple trees growing on the north lawn of Tomasso Hall. Why apples?

The answer is Isaac Newton. Roger Babson admired him enough to assemble the largest collection of Newton material in the United States, and then had trees grown from a descendant of Newton's own apple tree planted here on campus. Worth remembering on Thursday, since Beaver Bowl Trivia starts at 8:00 that same evening.
